ABOUT US
The New Messengers is an a cappella men’s quartet singing Christian music ranging from traditional gospel to jazz to barbershop style. Re-formed from The Messengers quartet, The New Messengers have been singing together about four years. The quartet is affiliated with the Electric City Chorus.
The make-up of the group, left to right in photo: Joe Smith who is a long-time barbershop singer and member of Homespun Harmony barbershop quartet sings tenor. The Rev. Carl Shepard sings bass and continues from The Messengers with a voice so deep it may not have a bottom. Kermit Welmsley brings his beautiful voice to sing Lead in his first quartet. The Rev. Jim Bowen with years of quartet experience, sang in The Messengers and sings in Homespun Harmony barbershop quartet, is the baritone.
